As far as is possible we try and organise a varied range of rides for all levels of riders. We want to encourage all types of cycling, including road, mountain bike and family rides. We grade rides according to the level of difficulty (see here) and give details of when we expect to return. Here's a selection of what we do:
Road Rides
There is a ride each Saturday at 8.15am, returning normally by 11am or 12. These are 30 - 40 miles going via places such as Westerham, Ivy Hatch, Godstone or Edenbridge with an average speed of 15-16mph.
We arrange some weekend and evening relaxed road rides of 1 hour 30 mins for newcomers and beginners around Downe starting.
Look out for details on Next Rides or the calendar.
Off Road Night Rides
Every Tuesday and Thursday evenings we go mountain biking in the dark, with the help of high power lights. Not only does it make riding the local trails more exciting, but its a chance to get an extra ride or two in during the week.
Times vary throughout the year depending on when it gets dark, but 7-8pm is the usual start time. Ride length is determined by battery power, so we usually ride for 1 - 1 1/2 hours then head for the pub.
A set of high power beam lights (10W or more) is essential, but if you don't have any just contact Bigfoot Bikes as they have a range of lights for hire.
Mountain Bike Rides
At the weekends we sometimes arrange off road rides. These range from long weekends in the Lake District and Purbecks to a quick spin around the local woods, with day trips to the South Downs and Epping Forest in between. The rides are a chance for the leader to show off their favourite trails, and the rest of the riders get to discover new bridle paths and singletrack they might have gone past and missed on previous rides.
Ladies' Rides
Our ladies group arranges relaxed road rides covering 10-20 miles, usually one Saturday afternoon every month. The pace is similar to the newcomers rides, so they are a good chance for female riders to try out club riding.
Beginners And Family Rides
We hope Bigfoot Bike Club members will want their families to enjoy cycling too. From time to time we organise off-road family rides lasting around 90 minutes and suitable for children aged six and older. Look our for details of the next family ride in Next Rides or the calendar.

London To Paris Challenge
In June this year 32 riders set off from Bigfoot and arrived at the Eiffel Tower in Paris 3 days and 270 miles later.Look out for new challenges next year.
